Our Fourth of July Weekend

With the Fourth of July being on a Monday this year, our family having the flu the week before, and the big fireworks being legal and never ending in our neighborhood, I felt the Fourth of July would NEVER be over!! We did have a great Fourth and were able to do a lot of fun things with our friends and family. Friday we went to the Riverton Parade with a lot of people from our neighborhood. Everyone brought their dinners and ate at the park before the parade started. It was great weather and since some of our neighbors went and put chairs out on Tuesday we were able to enjoy some nice shade! Saturday we hiked up to Donuts Falls, had a BBQ and went to the Riverton Parade with our friends, the Nelsons. The hike was great but it is amazing how much harder everything is when you are sick and have a couple of kids with you that want to be carried the whole time. The fireworks that night were also really great and went on for so long! All of the kids enjoyed the glow sticks that Tanner brought for them more than the fireworks :) Sunday we had my family over for dinner. Monday we were all worn out! I sent Ellie and Mitch to watch fireworks at the Rimmach's while Carter went to bed and I laid on the couch!

Amusing Happenings

Ellie:
On accident Ellie put my mom's boots on instead of hers. We were on our way to dinner at Mitch's parents house. When she walked in my brother in-law Cory said to Ellie, "Wow Ellie those are some big boots!" In response to him Ellie looked down her shirt and said, "No... I don't really have have any!".

Ellie put on a new pink outfit. The outfit was complete with pink socks and "farkly shoes" (sparkle shoes). She was so proud of her self that she looked at me and said, "Daddy is going to think that I am such a pretty princess when he gets home from work."

We were driving in the car and I got a piece of gum out of the center conceal. Ellie was in the backseat and responded with the comment, "I am hungry too mom, do you have any toast in there?"

The power was out this morning when we woke up. Ellie came and climbed in bed with me and told me to tell her stories about her and Ethan. We were just laying in bed when the power came on. The light in my bedroom turned on and Ellie looked at me and said, "Grandpa Mont must be here, he fixed the lights!" You can tell who does a lot of the "handy work" around our house!

Today I did not feel very well. I was getting ready in my bathroom. As usual Ellie was right there with me trying to put on her "makeup". I was trying to tell her that she needed to put the lipstick on her lips and not all over her whole face when I had that, "I am going to be sick feeling." I quickly ran to the toilet and proceeded to throw up. It was a bad spell, I probably thew up about 5 or 6 times. Ellie quickly came over to see what was going on and then remarked, "Mommy, why are you doing that, we just cleaned the toilets!" Like I really meant to! Thanks Ellie!

Mitch was in a hurry to leave for work today. I was asking him what he wanted to take with him for breakfast. He said that he did not want anything because he was going to go to lunch early that day. After he left Ellie looked at me and said, "Mom that is just AWFUL that Dad did not eat breakfast."

I told Ellie that tomorrow she was going to have both Grandma Pat and Grandma Kris tend her. She was so happy and replied "It's My Lucky Day!!"

Ellie was having a little bit of a hard time waking up and going to Grandma Kris's house the other day. I told her that it was okay because as soon as the new baby comes I am not going to go to work and I am going to stay home and tend her everyday. She looked at me all seriously and said, "Mom, I don't need you to tend me everyday, I just want you some days!"

Today we were at the book fair at my schools parent teacher conferences. Ellie brought a book over to me and said, "Mommy you will really like reading this book, it does not have any pictures!" She thinks that the books that I read for "fun" are boring because they don't have any pictures!

Mom mom was tending Ellie while I was at work. We were leaving got St. George the next day. My mom was making some wheat bread. Ellie told her, "I really like your bread Grandma but Grandpa's bread is the best. I am going out of town tomorrow so just make some and then bring it to my house and put it in the mailbox. Don't bring it to St. George and put it in the mailbox there because we don't have on there."

My mom was asking Ellie about Mitch's and my trip to St. George. Ellie told her that she did not get to go with us because it was just a Mommy and Daddy trip. When my mom ask her what we were going to do in Hawaii without her she respond with, " They are going to play Mommy and Daddy games!"

Ellie talking to me, "The Holy Ghost is in your tummy mom." I asked her why she thought that and she said, "Right now it is in there keeping our baby safe."

One of Ellie's favorite movies is a Church movie that Grandma and Grandpa Easton gave to us. It is about a little pioneer boy and his sister. Their Dad told them to stay home, they did not listen and ended up getting caught in a rock slide. The little girl prayed and they were rescued by angles. While we were in St. George I forgot to take my purse with us somewhere. Ellie told me that I was in trouble and that the rocks were going to fall on me and Jesus was not going to love me anymore.

We were grocery shopping and I was trying to introduce Ellie to "different" kids of food. I picked up a kiwi and told her to smell it, then touch it.....she responded with "that feels like Daddy!" (Hairy and rough!)

Ellie was telling Cordell about her favorite movie, Snow White. She said, "It just has the best ending!"

Ellie's Wee-Sing teacher told me that she told her that he mommy was on bed rest but he daddy was okay!

Ellie was getting some fruit leather from the storage room with her dad. We were packing her lunch so that she could go to the Zoo with some neighbors. Ellie told Mitch that she really needed two fruit leathers. One for Mom and on for herself. Dad told Ellie that I could not go to the Zoo because I needed to stay home and "keep the baby safe"(bedrest) . Ellie told him that I needed to go because I was really board!

Ellie was shopping with my parents for new appliances. My dad was looking at a refrigerator when Ellie told him to "Open That Bad Boy Up!" When they asked her who she had heard say that phrase before she said Keaton's Dad.

We were driving in the car and Ellie was playing with one of her favorite toys, her "Tinkerbell Minis". When she looked at me all concerned and said, "Tinkerbell does not dress
modestly!"

"Mom, Carter's stink bugs are white!" Ellie meant taste buds not stink bugs and has been referring to them as stink buds ever since I tried to correct her.

Today I told Ellie that her toy room was really messy and that she needed to clean it up. She responded, " Mom It is because of Carter I don't need to clean it up." (Right now Carter is three months old.)

Today Carter was crying. Ellie came over to where I was trying to rock him and calm him down and proceeded to tell me that he was crying because he wanted to be at Grandma Kris's house.

I was standing up rocking Carter ( in one place, not moving) when Ellie rammed me with her doll stroller. She looked at me and said, "Mommy you need to watch where you are going!"

I went to Young Women's tonight. Right when I got home Mitch had to leave to go somewhere and we did not get the chance to talk about what had happened while I was gone so I asked Ellie if Carter had slept a lot while I was gone....she responded with, " No Mom, he slept the whole time you were gone." Then I asked, "What did Daddy do while I was gone then?" "Well Mommy....he watched TV!"

Ellie went to a birthday party today. She asked me if I had fun while she was gone. I said "yes". She then asked me, "Mommy what did you do while I was gone, did you play?" I said, "kindof Mommy worked on her computer." Ellie then looked at me and said," Mom you can play with my toys if you want to they are a lot more fun than the computer is."

Tonight before bed after I was done reading to Ellie. She asked me.."Mommy do I know how to read." I said, " Not yet sweetie but soon!" She said, "Yea because I go to preschool at Learning Die Damn it!" (Her preschool is called Learning Dynamics) I had to try really hard not to laugh!

Today while Ellie was saying her prayers, she thanked Heavenly Father for her hair. She then said amen and looked at me with the biggest smile ever!

We were eating dinner and Ellie looked at Mitch and said, "Daddy what if you had a dream and someone was kickin' your butt?" and then started laughing really hard at herself. It was so funny!

Today Ethan came over to play. I told him that we really missed him. We have been out of town for a week. He replied with, "Ya I know!"

Ellie was helping me make dinner tonight. She asked me to pass her the "croutons" so that she could dip the chicken in the yogurt before we cooked it. She was referring the the "tongs!" It took me a minute to figure out what she was talking about!

Ellie informed Mitch's parents that she missed me while we had been on our trip but that she missed Mitch more. She said that she gets to spend a lot of time with me ALL the TIME and not as much with him.

Ellie told me that she would do "different" jobs today then her "normal" jobs. When I asked her what she wanted her "different" job to be she told me that she would watch Carter for me while I went to the store but that I could only be gone for a little while. (remember that she is 4 and Carter is 15 months) I did not let her do this "different" job!

Today Ellie asked me, "Mommy what do you do when you go to college....just go swimming all day?"

Ellie friend came to church with us today. When they started to pass the sacrament Ellie leaned over to Peyton and explained that they pass around "tiny snacks, first you get a tiny piece of bread, then you get a tiny drink in a tiny cup." I think that we need to have a Family Home Evening lesson on what the Sacrament really is.

Ellie's friend was borrowing a dress from her for church today. Ellie wanted to run it over to her house but all she had on was her underwear. When I told Ellie that she needed to put some clothes on before she went over to Peyton's house she told me. "Mommy it's okay we are pretty much family!"

Little Mitch:
Little Mitch was looking online for a destination for our next family vacation. We had decided that a cruise might be a fun idea. He looked up from his computer, totally serious, and said, "There are REALLY good deals for a cruse to Haiti!"

Big Mitch:
We were at my parents house for Sunday dinner. Mitch went to get something out of my parent's car. He accidentally left the door to the car open. When it was time for us to leave, I saw that the car door was still open and told him that he needed to shut it. He jumped out of our car, ran to my parent's car, shut the door jumped back in our car and drove home. Later that night my parents were wondering where the cat was. My mom went into the garage to find something and found Whinny locked in my Dad's car. Way to go Mitch!!

Mitch told Ellie that if she did not go to bed right now, he was going to take one of her build-a-bears and rip it's head of and then throw it in the garbage. She started crying and went to bed. I thought this was really funny because Mitch is the biggest softy and would NEVER do anything like this!

Ellie was wondering about Grandma Pat and how she had been married twice. She liked the idea of two Grandpa's but was wondering if Grandma Pat had to get a bigger bed so that she would be able to fit both of them in there with her! She knows that her daddy takes up most of our bed each night. I love the way that 4 year old minds work.
